“Betrayed by the Degree I Funded: My Mother-in-Law Calls Me ‘Useless’ After I Caught Her Daughter Cheating”

calendar_today August 10, 2026

I’m married with 2 children. The problem is my wife and her mother who happens to be my in-law. I think I have tolerated them and enough is enough am ending this marriage. We got married in 2021 when my now wife was just working as a casual worker in a certain company getting K150,000 as salary and myself was doing business which was earning me above K5,000,000 a month.

In 2023, I decided to take her to school at one of the Universities to study a certain course. Fast forward, last year during her 3rd year of study, I discovered that she started cheating on me with a certain man. I confronted her and eventually alerted her mother of which she emphatically denied that her daughter cannot do such a thing. I captured her WhatsApp and screen shot all the conversation with the same man.

To my surprise when I confronted her mother with evidence, this is what she told me and I quote: “Iwe Gen Z, if I knew that you have not reached higher learning nor being educated so much I would have not allowed my daughter to marry you.” From that time those words still pain me, cause I sacrificed my education for her but now I’m looked as at someone useless. Mind you I completed secondary education and I have an MSCE certificate. Her actions at home have crossed boundaries.

I have all the evidence of the men she intimately talk to.

My question, did I do wrong to support my wife and take her to school of course not to feed me but to take care of the children and herself in an event I die. For me, am comfortable, I can look after myself, her and children. But Is this how unfair life can be?
